Last month was the first time ever that I went to Walt Disney World in the middle of summer and boy was it hot out. I know that the heat index on most of the days I was down there was in the low 100s. This blog post will be about how to deal with the heat while at WDW and also deal with CHF. Let me put a disclaimer on here....do not go to areas that you know that the heat will be bad unless you have the approval from your doctors...in which I had the ok from all my doctors to go.
First of all, make sure you pack the right clothes with you. This would include wearing short sleeve shirts and tank-tops. Also, if you decide to wear blue jeans and/or tan pants, make sure they are loose fitting and they are not thick pants either.
Second, make sure you drink plenty of water and even eat ice cream. The reason why I said eat ice cream, it is considered a liquid. I learned this when I was first diagnosed with CHF. At first, you will be put in a fluid restriction and ice cream is considered a liquid since you can melt them to a liquid. If you do eat ice cream, just eat a basic ice cream cone or cup. It will be better for you.
Third, make sure you find places that have great A/C. Some great places are in Morocco and Carousel of Progress. Best places for A/C I have been to. Another great place is Mouse Gear at EPCOT.
Of course, make sure you wear sun screen. I didn't wear any and believe it or not, I never got sunburnt. I get more sunburnt living in Tennessee then I do in Florida
Would I ever go back to Walt Disney World during the middle of summer or just summer in general? To be honest, I had originally said no, but looking back, I would do it again.

90 years of Mickey Mouse
On November 18, 1928 a little cartoon short was shown at Universal's Colony Theater in New York City and the world was changed on that day. On that day, Steamboat Willie was shown to before the independent feature film Gang War. Steamboat Willie became a smash hit, while Gang War has been lost to time. The success of the short led to the two previous Mickey Mouse shorts (Plane Crazy and The Gallopin' Gaucho) to be reproduced as sound cartoon and given wide theatrical releases.
Since the release of Steamboat Willie, there has been a total of 149 shorts/theater film (some of the films include Who Framed Roger Rabbit, Mickey's Christmas Carol, and Prince and the Pauper) with the last short being Get A Horse that was shown before the Disney hit Frozen.
Besides Steamboat Willie, one short that Mickey is known for is The Sorcerer's Apprentice that was in the movie Fantasia. What is interested in that short, The Sorcerer's name is YenSid...which is Disney spelled backwards. Mickey doesn't speak in the whole short itself, but only after when he thanks conductor Leonard Stokowski.
There is so much history of Mickey Mouse that it can't be contained in this blog post. If you would like to read more on the history and secret stories on Mickey Mouse...get the books The Book of Mouse: A Celebration of Walt Disney's Mickey Mouse and Secret Stories of Mickey Mouse: Untold Tales of Walt's Mouse written by Disney historian Jim Korkis. In both books, you will learn about the history of the making of Steamboat Willie, all the Mickey Mouse shorts, some interesting stories of Mickey's secret history, quotes from famous Hollywood people about Mickey Mouse, quotes from Walt and the animators about Mickey Mouse.
What has Mickey meant to us Disney fans? For a lot of us, he has meant the world to us. He was not only the first Disney plush we got as kids, first Disney cartoon we saw, but also the first Disney meet and greet we go to when we go to the Disney parks. I can remember that when my mom made me a special VHS of Mickey Mouse and Disney cartoons she would record off from tv (and yes I still have that VHS)
Thank you Uncle Walt for creating a character that has meant the world to us even after 90 years. Happy 90th birthday Mickey Mouse and here is to another 90 years.

One of the underrated Disney book and authors out there
People that know me, know that I love reading books on Disney history (whether it be about Walt Disney himself, the company, or the parks and resorts around the world). That is one reason why (at the writing on this blog post) own 20 of the 23 books written by Disney historian Jim Korkis.
One place that I look at for new Disney books is actually themeparkpress.com (btw, this is not a sponsored post...just a huge fan of the site) and over a year ago I become Facebook friends with one of the authors, Trisha Daab. When I found out that she was an author, instead of buying her two books from amazon.com, I went and bought them straight from her (plus she signed them as well).
As I said before, I am a huge fan of Disney history and needless to say that after I after I bought them and had them in my possession, I found out that they were not Disney history type books. When I started reading the first book, The Not So Evil Stepmother in the Most Magical Place on Earth, I wasn't too sure of it. But after 2 days, I became a fan of the book and a fan of hers as well.
In the book, she puts into details on multiple Disney trips with her family (including getting married at Disney)...from an experience in 2007 with 2, all the way up to a experience for in 2015. Needless to say, if you want to read a book), on how to do a Disney family trip (and don't want to read or buy a Disney travel guide book), this is the book for you.
In her second book, Tasting the Magic from A-Z: The Best Food and Beverages at Walt Disney World, she talks about all the different food and drink you can try at WDW...and not the typical food and drink you think of (like Mickey Mouse bars, Mickey pretzels, and dole whips). Think of it as a mini-encyclopedia of food and drink at WDW. Not only does her daughter-in-law illustrate in the book (in which she does an amazing job), but Trisha also interviews different chiefs and food CMs at WDW.
Plus, she is going to be releasing a new book around Christmas time which is going to be book 1 of a four part series. I am personally looking forward to getting the series from her and reviewing them as well.

Looking back at the D23 2017 Park and Resorts Panel from an non-Florida resident point of view.
Back on July 15, 2017 during the D23 Expo 2017, one of the panels that all Disney fans were looking forward to was the Parks and Resorts panel. This panel would let Disney fans know what attractions and resorts were coming to the Disney parks around the world. Going into the panel, there was several rumors going around and some blogs were even "confirming" things before Disney made any announcements. After all was said and done, Walt Disney World and Disneyland were going to be getting major add-ons (and some controversy with some as well). Here were the announcements that were made
1) The new Star Wars land that is coming to Disneyland and Disney World will be called Star Wars: Galaxy's Edge. In the Land, there will be two rides. One of the rides will be where you will be put in the middle of the fight between the First Order and the Resistance. The other ride will be where you will pilot the Millennium Falcon. Plus, to top off Galaxy's Edge, there will be a Cantina bar (in which, the DJ of the bar will be Rex, the pilot from the original Star Tours ride)
2) A Tron roller-coaster will be coming to the Magic Kingdom and will be put right next to Space Mountain in Tomorrowland.
3) For the first time ever in Disney Parks history, there will be a Mickey Mouse attraction. This attraction will be taking the spot that is currently being used by the Great Movie Ride.
4) A Ratatouille ride will be placed in the France pavilion at EPCOT
5) The China pavilion will be getting a new film for the 360 degree theater
6) A Guardians of the Galaxy ride will be taking the spot where Ellen's Energy Adventure is currently at
7) Disney's Hotel New York in Disneyland Paris will be themed to Marvel and will be called Hotel New York- Art of Marvel
8) Walt Disney World will be getting two new resort hotels. One will be called Disney Riviera and it will be a DVC (Disney Vacation Club) resort. The other resort will be a Star Wars resort.
9) WDW will also be getting new transportation to help with the over-crowded buses. They will be getting an Uber-style service called Minnie-Vans and will also be getting sky-liner gondolas that will connect Hollywood Studios and EPCOT, along with the surrounding hotels.
10) The Disney Cruise Line will be getting not 2, but 3 new ships...making the grand total of ships 7
11) A Beauty and the Beast live show will be coming to DCL and will be based on the live action film
12) A brand new theater will be coming to Magic Kingdom and it will be put off of Main Street USA and will be based on Walt's hometown theater in Kansas City.
13) Toy Story Land, which is coming to DHS, will be opening up in the summer of 2018
14) Pixar Fest 2018 will be coming to DL and will feature new fireworks and character. Plus there will be a Pixar themed parade coming to DL, called Pixar Play and Paint the Night (night time parade) will be coming to DCA
15) Next summer, Paradise Pier will be re-named Pixar Pier
16) Cars Land at DCA will be given a Halloween overlay
17) Spiderman and the Avengers attractions will be coming to DCA, right next to the GotG ride at DCA.
Well, that was a lot of announcements. Since the announcements, made, the major controversies where that they were getting rid of the Ellen ride and the Great Movie Ride. Me, personally I am glad to see the Ellen ride go. It is extremely out-dated. If they were not going to update it at all, something new should be put in it's place. I do understand why people don't like the fact that the Great Movie Ride is going away, but I am happy to see a Mickey Mouse ride finally come to the Disney parks. I know people don't like the current look of Mickey Mouse, but I ask Disney fans out there to get them a chance. I personally can't want to see Galaxy's Edge and the new Star Wars resort...I am a huge Star Wars fan.
One of the fears from the panel was that they was going to announce that Figment was going to leave EPCOT, but I am happy that he is going to be staying.
Once I hear of any more announcements coming from the parks, I will make sure to write my thoughts about them.

Changes coming to Pirates
The big breaking news today (June 28, 2017) has been that there are going to be changes coming to the attraction Pirates of the Caribbean at Walt Disney World and Disneyland. Apparently, the are going to be changing the scene where they auction off the women (WE WANTS THE RED HEAD!!!). Here is the link to the article by Inside the Magic
http://www.insidethemagic.net/2017/06/disney-parks-replace-famous-pirates-caribbean-bride-auction-arming-redhead-new-role/
I know people within the Disney community are mad that they are going to be changing the scene, but I see this as a good thing. Remember the reaction everyone had when they announced Pandora for the first time....a lot of people said stuff like..."avatar doesn't belong at Disney"..."I will never step foot inside Animal Kingdom again". These same people were the same ones that when Pandora opened, they sang it's praises. Just give it a chance. I am looking forward to see how this scene will be looking like at the end. Plus, Imagineering Ambassador Marty Sklar and Kathy Mangum of WDI (Walt Disney Imagineering) have nothing but good things to say about it. I trust them 100% just as I trust Joe Rohde when it came to Pandora and the Guardians of the Galaxy overlay at Disney California Adventure.

Finding Dory
As most people know, on June 17, 2016, the new Disney Pixar film Finding Dory was released in theaters in the US. Since then, it has made $597,029,243 over all ($402,229,423 domestically and $194,800,000 internationally) as of July 9th. The budget for the film was $200 million. So, in less than a month, it has almost tripled it's budget.
I myself have seen the film twice. It's one of the two Disney films I have seen multiple times. The other Disney film was Frozen. Now, I did see Star Wars: The Force Awakens multiple times, but that is not a Disney film, it is still under Lucasfilms, which is of course owned by Disney.
Overall, it is a great movie. If you love Finding Nemo, you will love this film. The only downside I could see in the film was there are flash backs to Dory's childhood, but I didn't mind that at all. Like a lot of Pixar and Marvel films, you should stay until after the credits are over. I am not going to give any spoilers, but he will be laughing about what happens after the credits.
I would rate Finding Dory 4.5 stars out of 5
Credit for the numbers of Finding Dory goes to Wikipedia.org and boxofficemojo.com

late night blog
Figured I would write another blog since it's been a couple weeks since I wrote my last one. Each day that goes by, is another wonderful day. Today, I pretty much worked out like crazy today. The reason is that I want to lose as much weight as I possible can before I head back to Florida for vacation. I am currently at 273 lbs and I want to get to 240 before I go back to Florida.
Plus, I have been buying some Disney books written by Disney historian Jim Korkis. The books of his I have gotten are perfect reads. You can check is books at (along with other Disney books) on themeparkpress.com and it will take you to amazon.com. I highly recommend his books. I plan on in the future buying other Disney books from the authors on themeparkpress.com and I will give my opinions on them when I get them.
Hope everyone has an excellent night today and has an awesome summer.
